The incident was reported to emergency responders at 4:24 p.m. with St. George Police Department units responding to the area near 2900 South Bloomington Drive.
St. George police officer Michael Graf told St. George News that the driver of a tan Toyota sedan drove south on Bloomington Drive around a bend in the road.
The driver veered across the oncoming traffic lane, jumped up the curb onto a sidewalk and struck a brick wall, Graf said.
After rolling to a stop at the bottom of the bend, the Toyota had visible damage to the driver’s side front end, as well as a flat tire from a separated tire and rim.
Evening traffic was not slowed as northbound drivers on Bloomington Drive were able to safely detour around the stalled car.
After speaking with the Toyota driver, officers placed him in handcuffs then conducted a search of the vehicle. Graf said that there were no injuries reported and the driver of the Toyota was under investigation for suspected driving under the influence charges.
This report is based on the statements of law enforcement personnel and may not include the full scope of the findings.
