At 3:36 a.m. MDT, Mesquite Police officers and Nevada Highway Patrol troopers restricted southbound I-15 due to a serious injury collision at mile marker 122, just inside the Nevada state line, Brian Jahntz, with the Arizona Department of Public Safety, said in an email to St. George News.

Shortly after, at 4:19 a.m. MDT, a four-vehicle collision occurred involving three commercial motor vehicles on southbound I-15 at milepost 0.2 in Littlefield, Arizona.

Authorities say a full-size commercial motor vehicle failed to stop for traffic and ran into the back of a hotshot car hauler. The upper deck of the car hauler penetrated the cab of the commercial motor vehicle, killing the driver of the commercial vehicle, police said.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety was assisted by REACT, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, the Arizona Department of Transportation, Beaver Dam Fire & Rescue and Mesquite’s police and fire departments.

This report is based on statements from court records, police or other responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
