ST. GEORGE — A man driving a Ford truck was transported to St. George Regional Hospital with minor injuries after colliding with a Chrysler passenger car near 1250 North on Bluff Street Saturday.

Lt. Dave Williams with the St. George Police Department told St. George News that witnesses said the man driving the Ford Explorer sports truck was traveling towards 1250 North when he pulled out in front of the stop sign and collided with the southbound white Chrysler 200.

The two passengers in the Chrysler reported no significant injuries and were cleared by medical. All parties were wearing their seatbelts, a fact that Williams said likely contributed to the minor overall injuries as a result of the “high-impact crash.”

“Sometimes cars are coming faster than you think, so you have to make sure you have enough time to cross,” Lt. Williams said. “Even driving the speed limit means you’re going 50 miles per hour, and we’re lucky if people go even that speed.”

Another safety factor is that the Chrysler’s airbags deployed, shattering the windshield. The Ford’s airbags did not trigger as a result of the collision.

Harrison Towing and Repair removed the Chrysler 200, while Personal Touch Towing removed the Ford truck from the scene. The entire scene cleared just before 1:30 p.m.

Traffic impact was minimal, with only the turning lane into the 1250 North neighborhood briefly closed to clean oil spilled on the road.

This report is based on statements from court records, police or other responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
