ST. GEORGE — Police in Mesquite, Nevada, are reporting the apprehension of the suspect believed to be responsible for the credit union robbery Wednesday in St. George.

According to the department’s Facebook page, the man was arrested Thursday. The Facebook post also included the following:

Armed with only a few surveillance photos and a description of the suspect, our officers immediately began searching Mesquite for the unknown suspect and his truck.

This afternoon, our officers located the truck in a hotel parking lot. Officers then identified the suspect and his hotel room, and [St. George Police Department] issued a warrant for his arrest. Not long after, MPD officers arrested the suspect on his way to do his laundry.

On Wednesday evening, officers from the St. George Police Department descended upon the parking lot of Mountain America Credit Union but not before a male suspect made off with cash.

Officer Tiffany Mitchell provided St. George News with details while in the credit union parking lot at 123 South River Road.

“About 4:58 p.m. they had a white male wearing a white hat, black long-sleeved shirt come into this bank and demanded money,” Mitchell said. “He left out of this bank with an undisclosed amount of money. He is outstanding at this time.”

There was a heavy police presence in the parking lot east of the building for about an hour, and the occupants of a vehicle that was pulled over ended up having nothing to do with the incident and were released as the scene cleared.

“We’re working with the FBI and St. George Police Department investigations on the case right now,” said Mitchell on Wednesday, adding that this was an ongoing investigation and more details would be released once they become available.

This report is based on statements of police personnel and may not include the full scope of the findings.
