Region 10 girls golf: Pine View keeps host team Cedar at bay, once again by 10-stroke margin

CEDAR CITY — For the third straight week, the Region 10 girls golf match ended with the same teams in the top two spots and Pine View finishing 10 strokes ahead of runner-up Cedar.

Playing Wednesday at Cedar Ridge Golf Course in Cedar City, the Pine View Panthers finished with a team score of 350 strokes, while the Cedar Reds scored 360 — the exact scores they posted in their 1-2 finish two weeks ago at Sky Mountain in Hurricane. Then, last week at SunRiver in St. George, both teams shot one stroke better, with the Panthers winning that April 20 match by a score of 359 to 349.

There was also a sense of deja vu regarding the best individual score, as Crimson Cliffs freshman Kate Walker shot a 75 for the second week in a row to capture top medalist honors. With three birdies, six bogeys and par scores on her other nine holes, Walker helped the Mustangs to a third-place finish with a team score of 373.

Next week’s Region 10 match, which is the last one of the regular season, is scheduled for Tuesday, May 2, at Sand Hollow Resort in Hurricane. The 4A state tournament will be  May 10-11 at Logan River Golf Course in Logan.
