The Panthers, led by Alyssa Butterfus’ 80 and Hallie Wieland’s 83, finished with a total team score of 350, an improvement of five strokes from the previous week. Runner-up Cedar dropped 27 strokes from last week to finish at 360, while third-place Crimson Cliffs totaled 370, a 14-stroke improvement. The Mustangs were led by top individual medalist Kate Walker’s score of 77.

“It was a close match today,” Pine View head coach Matt Wieland told St. George News afterward. “As scores started coming in, I was worried. Crimson’s Lexi Leavitt posted what I believe is her personal best of 81 to compliment Kate’s 77. Then, I started seeing how well Cedar was playing and I thought we were in real trouble.”

“Luckily we were able to come out on top, but it’s great for everyone when the competition gets tighter,” Wieland added. “I think we’re going to see get even tighter as the weeks continue. It really shows how great some of the coaching is in our region when you see girls scores continue to drop week by week. Cedar really has a good thing going and they’re going to be a force for the foreseeable future.”

Next week’s match is scheduled for Thursday, April 20, at SunRiver Golf Club in St. George.
