Police: Failure to yield causes crash near St. George Post Office entrance

ST. GEORGE — Two vehicles collided Tuesday afternoon near the St. George Post Office entrance.

St. George Police officer Trevor Anderson told St. George News that at approximately 1:30 p.m., a Honda passenger car was approaching the post office eastbound. At the same time, an Audi SUV was westbound in the turn lane into the post office parking lot.

“So the male driver of the SUV, he kind of overshot a little bit just trying to come back in and didn’t see the Honda,” Anderson said. “He was trying to slowly come into the parking lot and she was coming around the corner.”

The officer said the female driver of the Honda tried to brake but ended up hitting the Audi SUV. The driver of the Audi SUV was cited for failure to yield on a left turn.

Anderson said Gold Cross Ambulance was called to the scene, but it appeared the drivers didn’t need medical attention.

This report is based on statements from court records, police or other responders and may not contain the full scope of findings. Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.
