Police: Driver runs red light, causes crash at Cedar City intersection

CEAR CITY — Police say a driver who ran a red light caused a collision at the intersection of Main Street and 1925 North in Cedar City on Tuesday.

The incident, which reportedly happed happened around 10:30 a.m., involved a white Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV and a white passenger car.

Cedar City Police Sgt. Justin Ludlow said the female SUV driver was heading south on Main Street when she clipped an eastbound car in the intersection, causing her own vehicle to flip onto its side.

Although the SUV driver was taken via ambulance to Cedar City Hospital for evaluation, Ludlow said she is expected to be OK.

Meanwhile, the driver of the other car was not injured, Ludlow added.

Traffic in the area was impacted for approximately 45 minutes, including full closure of both southbound lanes, while the scene was investigated and cleared.

Multiple Cedar City Police officers and Cedar City Fire Department personnel responded to the scene, as did a Gold Cross Ambulance crew.
