What’s on the Menu: The Taj | Sponsored by CasaBlanca Resort & Casino

CEDAR CITY — Highly aromatic and thoroughly unique, Indian food is a culinary experience like no other. And The Taj brings their own distinctive flavors to the table, serving traditional dishes in a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

Accompanied by Jeff Richards, one of the fantastic reporters at Cedar City News and St. George News, “What’s on the Menu” host Sheldon Demke headed north for this week’s episode. They were treated to a feast fit for a king at The Taj, located along Cedar City’s Main Street.

Indulge in a royal feast with Sheldon and Jeff at The Taj in this week’s episode of “What’s on the Menu” in the media player above.

They started with the chicken korma. A royal dish from the southern Indian city of Hyderabad, it features tender chicken and vegetables cooked with rich cream, butter, and various nuts and dry fruits.

“The first thing I do notice is the smell,” Demke said. “Just the flavors; it’s a cornucopia of flavors. You don’t even know what you can put your finger on.”

Next up were the chicken kebabs followed by chicken biryani, a dish popular throughout India, Pakistan and neighboring regions. Cooked with basmati rice and flavored with mild spices, it’s a delightful mix of rich, savory seasonings. And, of course, you can’t forget the accompaniment of garlic naan bread.

“It’s a meal in and of itself,” Richards said. “It’s not meant to be a side dish. I mean, two people can share that. It’s got everything.”

Taking pride in serving the freshest and highest-quality ingredients they can find, The Taj brings an unforgettable taste of India to Iron County. Stop by and experience one of the community’s best-kept secrets.
