The man riding the motorcycle was transported to St. George Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after the collision that took place just before 7 a.m., police said.

There was little disruption to the morning traffic at the corner near the Panda Garden restaurant and the State Liquor Store as vehicles were quickly moved to both sides of the parkway.

St. George Police Lt. David Williams told St. George News the maintenance truck was in the process of turning off 900 East to Red Hills Parkway while the motorcyclist was traveling east on the parkway.

“It was a lot darker than it is right now,” Williams said, noting the sun just peeking above the horizon. “He looked, thought he was clear, (and) came out on the motorcycle. They collided right here.”

There were a few small pieces of glass and plastic on the road. After the motorcycle rider was transported to the hospital, his motorcycle was taken on a flatbed tow truck. Another flatbed took the maintenance truck, though it didn’t appear to have much damage.

The scene was cleared by around 7:40 a.m.

“There were some citations issued,” Williams said. “We’ve got to look into some other things concerning the motorcycle’s driving, stuff like that.”
