Shane Durrel Marvin

Oct. 11, 1965-Nov. 24, 2023

Shane Durrel Marvin passed away at his home in St. George, Utah, on Nov. 24, 2023. Shane was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Oct. 11, 1965. Shane grew up in the Salt Lake area and graduated from Taylorsville High School in 1984. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy and served for four years. He had many great friends from this time in his life.

Shane began work for the Union Pacific Railroad where he spent the rest of his life working. He loved the people he worked with and many of them became his dearest friends. Shane married Staci Gower (Glazier) in August 2001. They were later divorced, but from that marriage came Shane’s ultimate joy and reason for living, his son Ayden Shane Marvin.

Shane spent the rest of his life making sure that Ayden knew he was the best thing he could have ever hoped for. Shane looked forward to his time with Ayden more than anything else. He took Ayden on many memorable camping trips, Denver Broncos football game, hours of pickleball and a river rafting trip that Ayden will always cherish.

Shane and Ayden restored Shane’s 1967 Ford Mustang, which will always bring a smile to Ayden. When Ayden arrived at Shane’s home after his death, Shane had left a poem, author unknown, that read: “To My Son … Someday when the pages of my life end, I know that you will be one of the most beautiful chapters. Always keep me in your heart for you are always in mine. Nothing and nobody, not even time will ever change that.”

The family and friends of Shane would like to remind all that there is always someone who cares. Reach out.

Friends and family are invited to a graveside service under the direction of Serenity Funeral Home on Dec. 8, at 1 p.m. at the Hurricane City, Utah Cemetery.
