Richard Nelson

Richard Wesley Nelson, of Cedar City, Utah, born in 1943, passed away on September 14, 2023, at the age of 80 in St. George, Utah.

He is survived by his children, Randi Nelson-Frausto and Sterling Nelson, grandchildren, Jackson Nelson, McKennah Nelson and Charli Jane Frausto, as well as his brother Paul Scott Nelson.  His nieces, Deserae Nelson Archibald and Danni Nelson Olsen.

Richard was preceded in death by his ex-wife Jane Nelson-Comp and sweetheart and partner Laurie Ronnow. His parents, Wesley Hayden, Robert Nelson and Elouise Carol Nelson Wann. As well as his grandparents, John and Ida Blankenbeker and Mr. And Mrs. John Earl Hayden.

Richard pursued higher education at Southern Utah University where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. His dedication to learning and his thirst for knowledge were evident in his various interests.

In his free time, Richard enjoyed playing the guitar, listening to music and reading. Additionally, he had a talent for electronics and formed Nelson Electronics for a number of years.

The caring professionals at Spilsbury Funeral Home in St. George, Utah, are assisting with the arrangement for Richard’s final farewell. Thank you to the doctors and nurses who made his final days comfortable at the Dixie Medical Cardiac Unit.

Richard will be remembered for his intellect, beautiful blue eyes, his singing voice and behavior and attitude he exhibited with family and friends.
