ST. GEORGE — Late Tuesday night, a two-vehicle collision at Sunset Boulevard and Dixie Drive resulted in a woman and two other people being transported to the hospital, St. George Police spokesperson Tiffany Mitchell said.

At approximately 9:30 p.m., a white 2006 Ford F-150 pick-up truck collided with a white Volkswagen passenger four-door car in the intersection.

By 9:50 p.m., both vehicles had been towed from the scene, and traffic resumed, albeit with one lane closed for the Gold Cross Ambulance. Two people had already been transported to the hospital.

Jaime Mata, a witness to the crash, told St. George News he saw the car running the light.

“The guy in the car went when it was green for the woman in the truck,” Mata said.

The 22-year-old male driver of the Volkswagen was observed by St. George News as being uninjured and was given a citation by officers at the scene. The 39-year-old female driver of the other vehicle was seen having a neck brace put on by first responders and put on a gurney into the ambulance, which left the scene at 10:10 p.m.

Mitchell reported on Wednesday the Volkswagen driver was cited for failure to yield on a left turn.

No further information on the course of the collision or the condition of the injured people was available as the report was being finalized, Mitchell said. There was no other information on the other two people transported and which vehicle they were in.

This report is based on statements from police, emergency personnel, other responders, or witnesses on the scene and may not contain the full scope of findings.
