Misha LaRee Bentley Holt

May 3, 1926-Dec. 17, 2022

Misha LaRee Bentley Holt, age 96, passed away on Dec. 17, 2022, surrounded by her family. Misha was born on May 3, 1926, in St. George, Utah, to Richard Gordon and Ellen Seegmiller Bentley. She was the third of five children and learned to work hard at a very young age. She lost her father to pneumonia when she was just 7 years old. She loved growing up here in St. George and lived on the block of 200 North her entire life.

She attended all of her schooling in St. George, including receiving an associate degree from Dixie College. She loved playing sports and being with the many life-long friends that she made. In her younger years, she worked various jobs where she used her vast clerical and typing skills.

Misha met Gerald Holt after high school while walking down the street with her friends. When  Gerald joined the Navy and served in World War II, he wrote to Misha until he returned home to St. George. They were married in the St. George temple on May 14, 1947, and raised four boys – Jeff, Gordon, Tim, and Bruce.

Misha worked at Farmers Home Administration for many years and loved the people she helped and the many friends she made.

Misha was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed serving in many callings. She loved life and spent countless hours taking care of others and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She always put her family first and made sure that they all knew how much she cared for them. She will always be remembered for her rolls, her sheet cake, her love of Cherry Coke, See’s candy and the many games of Rook and Old Maid that were played at her house. Misha often joked that the two things you needed if you lived to be as old as she did were your sense of humor and your insurance policy. She was able to do just that.

Misha is survived by her children Jeff (Susie) Holt of St. George, Gordon (Shanna) Holt, of Hurricane, Tim (Kathy) Holt, of Phoenix, Arizona, and a daughter-in-law Laurene (Norris) Brown of St. George, sixteen grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and her sister Berniece Stucki of Las Vegas, Nevada.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her mother and father-in-law, her husband Gerald L. Holt, brother Kent Bentley, sisters Margaret Bentley and Grace Romney, her son Bruce Antoon Holt and grandson Clint Adams.
