On Monday morning, just after 7:30 a.m., a 70-year-old woman walking on the Virgin River walking trail was “groped” by an unknown man, St. George Police Officer Tiffany Mitchell told St. George News.

The man reportedly came up behind the woman near the Man-O-War bridge, grabbed her and then fled on foot. The suspect is described as a man with dark-toned skin and short black hair wearing a golden brown shirt, black shorts and possibly a hat or beanie.

Mitchell said officers responded quickly and searched the area but were unable to locate him at that time.

“We have had officers down around that area daily trying to find him,” Mitchell added.

Anyone with any information that may help identify the suspect responsible is asked to contact the St. George Police Department at 435-627-4300.

This report is based on statements from court records, police or other responders and may not contain the full scope of findings. Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.
