UPDATED: Officials locate boy who went missing from Grand Canyon campground

ST. GEORGE — An 8-year-old boy reported missing from a campground in Grand Canyon National Park has been found, park officials say.

Grand Canyon National Park officials issued a news release Thursday morning requesting help from the public for any information regarding a boy who went missing Thursday. A subsequent press release states Hartley was found safe at approximately 9:45 a.m. in Grand Canyon Village.

The boy, Canyon Hartley, was reported missing after he was last seen at midnight on Thursday at Mather Campground in site 151, Juniper Loop, on the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park, according to the news release. Hartley is 4-foot-1 inches tall, weighs 60 pounds and has strawberry-blonde hair. He was last seen wearing a blue shirt, underpants, no shoes, and possibly carrying a stuffed condor.
