ST. GEORGE — We’re back to highlighting exceptional student-athletes throughout Southern Utah with all new episodes of “Performance Player of the Month,” brought to you by Ken Garff St. George Ford.
This month’s episode features Crimson Cliffs High School football star Parker Andrus. Cannon Secrist with St. George News Sports caught up with him on his home field.

Athletic from a very young age, Andrus fell in love with football when he started high school. He has also excelled in baseball, winning state twice with the Mustangs.
“I’ve always loved both sports, but there’s something different with football now,” he said. “I think the biggest thing is going and lifting weights. In baseball, you can’t do that as much. I love lifting weights and being able to get stronger.”
When he’s not on the field, in school or at the gym, he enjoys spending time outdoors fishing, hunting and shooting.
Andrus credits his father with being his biggest supporter and his older brother for teaching him the importance of working hard. He also considers Aaron Donald, defensive lineman for the Los Angeles Rams, a role model.
“Since he’s been in the game, I’ve always idolized him and looked up to him a lot,” Andrus said. “How he trains, how he plays the game of football. I just love it.”
Andrus’ commitment and work ethic on and off the field helped propel his team to the 4A state championship this season. As a senior, he couldn’t have scripted a better ending to his high school career.
Looking ahead, he’s exploring his options, which include playing football at Weber State University, Southern Utah University and Utah Tech University or University of Nevada, Reno. He plans to start taking official visits in the near future.
“I’m excited,” he said. “I’m blessed to have opportunities to go play at the next level.”
