Cedar City Lions Club’s annual “Spirit of ’76 Independence Day Parade” featured many entries, including one dozen floats highlighting key historic moments of the Revolutionary War and afterward.

Other entries included folks of all ages singing, waving flags or handing out candy and other goodies. Numerous local organizations, businesses, youth sports teams, horseback riders and performing groups also participated.

The procession concluded in customary fashion, with several fire trucks blaring their horns and sirens.

Burton Nichols of Cedar City Lions Club said the three top parade entries, as determined by a vote of judges, were as follows: 1) Daughters of American Revolution, Cedar City Bald Eagle Chapter, 2) Southern Utah Veterans Association and 3) Marine Corps League.

Those who missed seeing the parade in person are invited to check out the video above and the photo gallery below.

The city’s Fourth of July festivities will wrap up with a fireworks show at Cedar City Regional Airport at dusk.
