CEDAR CITY — An autopsy was unable to determine the manner of death of a Parowan woman who was found unresponsive in her bedroom on New Year’s Eve.

According to a public post made Wednesday afternoon on Parowan Police Department’s Facebook page, the Utah State Office of the Medical Examiner has completed its report on the death of 62-year-old Robin Whittle.

“The report indicates that the pattern of injuries are not specific to a particular mechanism and could be from a fall or a volitional act,” the police department’s statement reads. “Thus, the manner of death is best left undetermined at this time.”

As previously reported, Whittle was found unresponsive in her bed with head injuries the morning of Dec. 31, 2023.

Her husband Mark Whittle reportedly told police he had slept on a couch that night after he and his wife had stayed up late preparing their respective talks for church services the next morning.

Parowan Police have been handling the case as a possible aggravated murder investigation as they have awaited the medical examiner’s findings.

Robin Whittle, who worked as a first-grade teacher at Iron Springs Elementary, was fondly remembered by her students and colleagues as an “exceptional educator and compassionate soul.”

Despite the inconclusive autopsy findings, Parowan Police Chief Addison Adams said the investigation remains open and ongoing.
