CONTRIBUTED CONTENT — Meet Alta Labs, a local tech company making big waves in the wireless networking space. Focusing on the hardware side of connectivity, Alta Labs designs innovative Wi-Fi solutions for enterprise-grade residential, commercial and outdoor projects around the world.

“We believe in providing a piece of hardware that’s superior in performance,” CEO Chase Harrison said. “Performance can mean different things to different people, but really what it comes down to is that we build our products to be faster.”

Alta Labs is a division of Soundvision Technologies, a leader in custom audio products since 1999. The company relocated to Southern Utah in 2007 and also encompasses the TruAudio and VSSL premium speaker brands.

In 2021, Soundvision Technologies committed a significant investment of capital and resources to enter the Wi-Fi networking market, essentially building Alta Labs from the ground up. From the beginning, their goal was to offer a better-performing product with features that had never been seen before, paired with the same service model that sets TruAudio and VSSL apart from the competition.

“Essentially, you don’t have to pay anything to get a hold of our tech support team,” Harrison said. “With most of our competitors, there’s a fee to access their tech platform and customer service.”

Alta Labs established a headquarters in Hurricane and began shipping product last May. The company’s development and support team is based entirely in the United States, with many employees boasting at least 10 years of experience in the networking space.

Alta Labs products deliver unrivaled performance that redefines the way enterprise, business and residential users connect. Driven by proprietary software and hardware designs, their revolutionary networking technology provides unmatched speeds with 99.99% uptime.

Alta Labs recently joined forces with InfoWest, Southern Utah’s hometown internet service provider since 1994, to bring fast and reliable wireless connectivity to Willow Glen Resort in Enoch. The owners wanted to ensure maximum Wi-Fi 6 coverage throughout the entire property, including the new luxury RV park, so Alta Labs installed 40 of their AP6-Pro-Outdoor access points across all 40 RV bays.

InfoWest was responsible for linking a fiber connection to the pedestal in every RV bay. These fiber lines plug into a media converter that connects via RJ45, commonly known as an Ethernet port, to each AP6-Pro-Outdoor unit.

“Our core business is providing the equipment for networking, so joining with a company like InfoWest was an impressive collaboration,” Harrison said.

He added that Willow Glen Resort was sold on working with Alta Labs after learning that they could implement the company’s cutting-edge AltaPass multi-password technology.

This patented system allows every RV bay to join a single wireless network, yet each bay will have its own password for maximum security. By using only one SSID, AltaPass reduces radio frequency interference and simplifies the end-user experience.

When guests check in at the front desk, they are provided with a unique password that is valid for the duration of their stay. Guests can then remain connected to their own private network on multiple devices while moving throughout the property.

For Harrison, watching AltaPass and the AP6-Pro-Outdoor in action at Willow Glen Resort exemplifies Alta Labs’ commitment to driving innovation forward and raising the bar even higher within the enterprise networking landscape.

“Everyone who’s had a chance to work with us has been floored by how fast their data speeds are,” he said. “Doing things like giving you your own private network, filtering out adult content, dictating speeds down to the end user’s device, scheduling the internet to be on or off based on password – that kind of technology really didn’t exist in this space.”

Alta Labs products are designed in America, manufactured in Asia and shipped worldwide. Every day, their tech experts are working to both optimize and maximize bandwidth to help customers like Southern Utah’s own Willow Glen Resort get the most out of their internet connection.

“We’re a global brand, but we’re based right here in the St. George area,” Harrison said. “And we love Southern Utah. It fits our culture; it fits our vibe.”
