‘Treasure the Memories’: Registration opens for Iron County Fair’s pirate-themed events

PAROWAN – While Iron County’s biggest extravaganza, the Iron County Fair, is nearly three months away, the time for participants to register for many fair events is right now.

This year’s fair theme, “Treasure the Memories,” is centered on a pirate’s life. There will be buccaneer fun throughout the fairgrounds.

For some events and competitions, incorporation of the fair theme is encouraged and may affect final judging scores.

Registration for some events and competitions is now open, and registration for additional events and competitions will continue to open in June and beyond, according to a press release issued by Iron County Fair officials.

Miss Iron County/Miss Iron County Teen scholarship competitions

Registration for Miss Iron County/Miss Iron County Teen opened Monday and will remain open until June 24. The pageant is scheduled for Aug. 10 at 7 p.m. in the Canyon View High School auditorium, 166 W. 1925 North in Cedar City. Driver applications for Mud Bog and Demolition Derby

Thousands of dollars in cash prizes are up for grabs at the Demolition Derby and Mud Bog. The Demolition Derby will take place Aug. 17 in the rodeo arena at the fairgrounds, and the Mud Bog will take place Aug. 24 east of the arena. Drivers can register for these competitions, and spectators can purchase tickets at the Demolition Derby website or the Mud Bog website.

Iron County’s Got Talent

The annual Iron County’s Got Talent competition will take place Aug. 31 in the Midway Tent at the fairgrounds. Registration will open in June for those interested in participating, and the first 10 entrants in each age category will be eligible to compete. Exhibits

“From quilts and artwork to baked goods and produce, spectacular entries fill the exhibit building each year, submitted by our very own residents who are vying for the coveted ribbons and cash awards,” the news release states.

Beautiful Baby Contest

Little Buckaroo Junior Rodeo

If your little cowboy or cowgirl wants to show their stuff at the Little Buckaroo Junior Rodeo, registration will open in June and must be completed by Aug. 19 at 3 p.m. The rodeo will take place on Saturday, Aug. 24. Other Iron County Fair events requiring participant registration include the Outlaw Car Show, Labor Day Parade, PRCA Rodeo local events, Ranch Rodeo Series, 5K Fun Run & Walk, cornhole tournament and disc golf.
