“Mental wellness is personal for us,” said Chayse Myers, founder and CEO of Brain Health Center. “We set out to provide for others what we wished had existed in our moments of need: a state-of-the-art facility coupled with the best talent and technology found anywhere, offering services at the lowest cost anywhere. We did it. Our center and organization is what everyone who seeks mental wellness deserves.”

What is TMS?

“TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) is a non-invasive treatment that helps to energize the brain,” Brain Health Center director Rafael Capitan said. “The brain then uses that energy to connect neurons and create new neural pathways. It helps the brain to function more like it’s meant to. It doesn’t just mask symptoms like medications do.”

Nothing is ingested during treatments and patients can return to their normal activities, such as work and school, immediately after.

Because of their machine types, Capitan said other TMS facilities are known to only treat depression. For the treatment of various conditions, Brain Health Center’s cutting-edge TMS technology allows the device to be placed in different locations on the scalp.

In addition to clinical depression, this treatment can be used to help people dealing with anxiety, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, autism, insomnia, bipolar disorder, postpartum depression, addiction, panic disorders and suicidal ideation.

Research is currently being conducted on the effects TMS has on dementia, Parkinson’s disease and more.

”Being the clinical director of the health center is both a humbling and exciting experience,” said Luke Haws, a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner at Brain Health Center. “I learn so much from those I get to care for and guide. Mental health challenges are real. I have learned we are all just fighting our own battles. No one is normal as our culture likes to portray.”

While other TMS facilities treat adults ages 18 and up, Brain Health Center provides relief for youth ages 8 and up. Most importantly, they have the lowest rates in the country – often 50% or less than other facilities. Their mission is to make TMS treatments accessible to everyone. While the rates will remain low, they’ll continue to provide an elevated experience.

All new patients receive a free brain mapping and complimentary TMS consultation, even if they opt out of treatment. The Brain Health Center is also accredited by many insurance companies, which can cover the cost of regular treatments. For individuals experiencing suicidal thoughts, Brain Health Center offers three-day treatments at no charge.

How do they keep their rates competitive?

Instead of leasing their machines, Brain Health Center owns their machines outright. That means they don’t pay every time the machine switches to the “on” position. The groundbreaking technology also provides treatment in less time, creating efficiency.

“We do TMS quite differently than anywhere else,” Capitan said. “It’s very expensive, and we’re trying to change that. We’re making TMS available to more people, as far as the services, experience and the rates we charge.”

Brain Health Center opened in May 2023. A few weeks ago, the facility moved into its brand-new location, featuring state-of-the-art construction and three TMS treatment rooms. Patients can choose from two TMS treatment options: standard TMS, where patients receive one treatment daily for two months, and a five-day accelerated TMS treatment for depression, also known as SAINT or SNT, which was approved by the FDA last year.

The SAINT protocol is an innovative form of TMS that involves receiving 10 TMS treatments a day for five days. Research has shown that the results are better with the five-day treatment compared to the standard TMS treatment that normally takes 6-8 weeks to complete, Capitan said.

Each treatment is about 10 minutes long and can help individuals overcome their symptoms while treating depression at its core, without medications. The Brain Health Center has had patients from all over the world come to complete their five-day TMS treatment here.

At Brain Health Center, patients who do the five-day treatment are given a private day suite for the week. Suites include a TV, access to the internet, drinks and lunch delivered daily at no extra cost to the patient. The facility is one of five in the country to offer the five-day treatment and is the only facility to offer day suites for free.

“We want people to know that they can get real relief with a non-invasive treatment,” Capitan said. “If anyone is looking for real relief from their mental wellness condition, the Brain Health Center is a great place to start because they’re going to get the best TMS treatment that’s available in the country.”

The Brain Health Center will hold a grand opening celebration with a ribbon-cutting and prizes on Saturday, Feb. 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Visit brainhc.com to learn more and begin your journey to greater wellness.
