Sharon Elaine Wills

May 31, 1943-Feb. 12, 2024

Sharon Elaine Wills, aged 80, of Provo, Utah, passed away peacefully on Feb. 12, 2024. Born in Sacramento, California, to Dorothy and John Hutcheson, Sharon grew up in a nurturing home, with her sister Shirley and her brother Dan, which laid the foundation for her lifelong devotion to Jesus and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Her early years were shaped by the values of compassion, love, and service, virtues she shared with her eternal companion, Richard Carroll Wills.

Sharon and Richard’s journey began in grade school, blossoming into a loving partnership that lasted 52 years until Richard’s passing on Aug. 25, 2016. Together, they built a life that was a testament to their shared beliefs in the power of love, the importance of family, and their deep faith in God. They were wed in St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sacramento, California, on Npv. 18, 1963, and were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Oakland, California LDS Temple.

Their union was blessed with seven wonderful children: Erick, Adam, Shannon, Alice, Sarah, David and Renee, and their family grew to include 38 grandchildren and thousands of children whom they loved as their own. Sharon and Richard’s home, filled with laughter, music, wisdom and endless support, became a sanctuary of love and a beacon of Christ’s teachings. Together, they encouraged their children to pursue music, sports and to build their minds through knowledge, all within the framework of a Christ-centered life.

Sharon’s legacy, intertwined with Richard’s, is marked by their unconditional love for each other, their family and everyone they met. Sharon had a unique gift for seeing beyond the exterior, recognizing the heart and the inherent need for love in everyone she encountered. Her remarkable ability to connect with people, offer comfort, and understand, was deeply rooted in her faith and her belief in the transformative power of Jesus’ love.

A celebration of Sharon’s life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 24, at 1 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 259 Mall Dr, St. George. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral service at the chapel from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Interment will be at the St. George City Cemetery, 650 E Tabernacle St, St. George, from 2:30-3 p.m.

Come join us for food and fresh air at Vernon Worthen Park, 300 S 400 E, St. George, 3:15 p.m. until you need to leave.

In lieu of flowers, please consider passing on Sharon’s legacy. Hug your neighbor. Love on some gang-members. Invite someone over for a meal. Look past people’s flaws. Listen and validate someone who is angry or sad. Give a stranger the shirt off your back. Compliment a co-worker on a job well done. Serve in your church. Mentor a child. Save a life. Giving money is good, but more noble is giving of oneself.

Arrangements are under the care of Pine View Mortuary, 435-986-4222. Click here to visit the Pine View Mortuary website for full obituary and funeral service listing.
