Lucy Ann Phillips

Sept. 10, 1957-Feb. 10, 2025

Our dear friend, Lucy Ann Phillips, passed away in the St. George Regional Hospital on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024.

Lucy Ann was born Sept. 10, 1957, in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, to Clarence Oliver Phillips Jr. and Mary June Grande Phillips. Lucy’s mother, who was a registered nurse, passed away when Lucy was five and her brother Gregory was seven. Lucy and her brother were raised by their grandmothers and their father, who never remarried. Her father passed away when she was 19 and her brother Gregory Joseph Phillips passed away when he was 39 years old and Lucy was 37.

Lucy was well known as a child and young adult for Baton Twirling. She was a champion and won many awards.

Lucy graduated from Mendel Catholic High School in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.

She leaves behind Jeff Bland and stepson Joshua Bland. Jeff and Lucy were married on Dec. 20, 1987, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. They later divorced but always remained close friends. She also leaves behind an uncle whom she deeply loved, Joe Grande of Illinois.

Lucy lived in Lava Bluffs Mobile Home Park in Hurricane, Utah. She was very much a caregiver and was known to take in many meals and shop for anyone in need. She was a true animal lover and spent a lot of time pet-sitting for neighbors and friends.

Lucy was a very loving person and did many wonderful things for our community. She worked for Memory Matters in St. George Utah, where she spent countless hours helping start their Thrift Store. She loved helping to care for those they served, both at work and outside of work as needs arose.

She will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She may have been small in stature but was huge in spirit and love. She loved to laugh and make others happy.

There will be a memorial service held at the Lava Bluffs Club House, located at 79 N 3880 W, in Hurricane, Utah on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2024, from 5-7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations to help with her final expenses will be appreciated and accepted at the memorial until a GoFundMe account can be set up.
