ST. GEORGE — A man whose Jeep veered off State Street into a field in Hurricane last Friday suffered a heart attack while driving and remains at St. George Regional Hospital in stable condition Tuesday, family and acquaintances said.

Dave Blake of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, was in Hurricane for the annual Winter 4X4 Jamboree and driving his Jeep Rubicon with the personalized license plate “BSKARED.” Authorities said the yellow off-road vehicle was traveling east and veered into westbound lanes before going through a barbed wire fence, ending up in a field east of the Days Inn.

Blake was pulled out of the vehicle by Hurricane Police officers and firefighters and had to be resuscitated and was unconscious when an ambulance took him to the hospital.

“He’s still in St. George but he’s OK,” said Mark Adler, president of the Havasu 4 Wheelers. Blake serves as vice president of the 4X4 organization that counts more than 225 member families.

In pictures posted on social media, Blake can usually be seen wearing a blue Havasu 4 Wheelers trail leader hat and is seen posing in several pictures with his vehicles. That same hat was seen in the car Friday.

In a statement on Facebook, Blake’s sister thanked people for their thoughts and prayers for the recovery of the man in his 60s.

“Please continue the prayers as he’s not out of the hospital yet but he is stable,” Kathie Harrison said.
