Sharon Call Anderson

June 19, 1937-Jan. 8, 2024

Sharon Call Anderson, of St. George, Utah, passed away peacefully of natural causes on Monday, Jan. 8, 2024, at her home. She was 86 years old. She was born on June 19, 1937, in Afton, Wyoming, to Osborne Papworth Call and Janice Miller. She was married and sealed to Larry LaVon Anderson on June 28, 1957, in the Logan Utah Temple. Larry and Sharon met in Soda Springs, Idaho, in 1956 when Larry was working there for the summer at a mining company.

Sharon was raised in Star Valley, Wyoming, and in her younger years had many opportunities to spend time with her many cousins and relatives there. She was the oldest of five children and was the class salutatorian and homecoming queen in Soda Springs, Idaho where she graduated high school. She attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, for two years.

Sharon and Larry lived in Soda Springs for the first three months of their marriage and then in Salt Lake City from 1957 until 1999. They had three children before Sharon suffered a stroke in 1966. They then adopted two more children. In 1972, the family of seven lived in Annandale, Virginia, for six months and Mörsch, Germany, for six months while Larry took a one-year sabbatical leave from his job at the University of Utah.

Sharon was a wonderful wife and a dedicated mother, and she gave great service to her husband and children while she was here on this earth. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings including as a Ward Librarian, a Counselor in the Primary Presidency, a Ward Relief Society President (three times) and a Stake Relief Society President. She served a 15-month mission with Larry in Houston, Texas, from 2002 to 2003.

Although she loved extensively traveling the world for most of her life, for the past few years she loved staying at home in St. George, completing 500-1,000-piece puzzles, reading, working in her yard, going for walks with her dog, visiting with family and friends and taking care of Larry.

Sharon is survived by her husband Larry Anderson; her daughter Tracy Jones (husband Kyle) of South Jordan, Utah; her son Camron Anderson (wife Cherise) of Layton, Utah; her daughter Cyndy McCormick (husband Don) of Roseville, California; her son Nathan Anderson (wife Mindy) of West Valley City, Utah; and her daughter Belinda Edling (husband Magnus) of Draper, Utah. She is also survived by her brother Craig Call (wife Janine) of Plain City, Utah, and her brother Lance Call (wife Kathy) of Lehi, Utah. She has 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Osborne Jay Call and her sister Candace Virginia Young.
