Marion Ora Johnston

March 15, 1928-Oct. 31, 2023

With saddened hearts, we share the passing of our beloved mother Marion Ora Johnston on Oct. 31, 2023, at her residence at Sterling Court in Saint George, Utah, with daughter Carol at her side. She quietly passed from this earthly life to join family and friends who were undoubtedly waiting for her. What a reunion, for sure.

She was born Marion Ora Anderson on March 15, 1928, to parents Truman Ephraim Anderson and Consuela Naomi Hardy in South Gate, California. She was the oldest of three daughters, twin sisters, Myrle and Myrna followed.

Marion was preceded in death by her parents, sister Myrle, loving husband Howard Walker Johnston (2014) and sonĀ  Kenneth Alan Johnston (2022).

She is survived by her son Howard Ronald Johnston (Shelly, daughter Carol Connie Lamb (Brian, sister Myrna Evelyn (David), sister-in-law Marlene Pauley and many nieces and nephews. Marion and Howard had nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Marion went to school in South Gate, California, and later to Woodbury Business College in Los Angeles, California, where she met the love of her life Howard Walker Johnston. They were married July 9, 1948, in South Gate, California. They moved to Long Beach in 1952 where they raised children –Howard Ronald, Kenneth Alan and Carol Connie. San Diego became their home in 1980 before moving to Saint George in 2009.

Marion was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and she served in various callings in Relief Society and Primary. Marion loved to play golf in her younger years and was an avid quilter. Many were the recipients of her beautiful quilts. Marion loved the Savior Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father and her family so very much.

Mother, we will miss you terribly, but we know you loved us and we loved you and we take comfort in knowing that one day we will see you again, your loving children, Ron and Carol, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services for Marion will be held on Monday, Nov. 13, 2023, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 259 N. Mall Drive, Saint George, Utah. Viewing is at noon followed by service at 1 p.m., followed by burial service at Tonaquint Cemetery in Saint George.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hughes Mortuary.
