SOUTHERN UTAH — Saturday morning’s solar event over Southern Utah saw dazzling displays of light, strange shadows, homemade viewing glasses and masses of resident’s outside trying to snap the perfect photo to memorialize the eclipse.
The annular eclipse passed over seven states and 30 national parks in America’s western portion of the continent. Almost all of Southern Utah could see the eclipse — the moon passing in front of the sun — including Bryce and Zion National Parks.
St. George News reporter Chris Reed made the weekend trek to Lions Park in Parowan where those watching from Iron County could not hold back the wonder and awe.
“At the moment it became a ring, everyone in the park spontaneously applauded,” Reed messaged the St. George News team. “It was truly an amazing moment in time.”
St. George News readers from Salt Lake City to San Antonio, Texas submitted photos of the view from their standpoint, which can be viewed in the gallery below.
