The incident occurred shortly after 4:30 p.m. at the Three Peaks Oasis venue near 8000 North and Lund Highway, where the Landslide Festival is taking place throughout the day Saturday.

Iron County Sheriff’s Lt. David Mitchell told Cedar City News the incident involved a 50-year-old man who was driving a side-by-side vehicle in the venue’s parking lot with another person in the passenger seat.

“He was spinning donuts in the dirt parking lot when the side-by-side tipped over, catching his arm outside the vehicle,” Mitchell said, adding that alcohol is suspected to have been a factor.

The man was later transported by an Air Life medical helicopter to St. George Regional Hospital.

“He will likely lose his arm due to the injury sustained,” Mitchell said.

Meanwhile, the person riding in the passenger seat was not injured, Mitchell added.

Responding to the incident were multiple Iron County Sheriff’s deputies, in addition to personnel from Cedar City Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance.

Although the incident caused disruption to the event, the scene was cleared by approximately 5:30 p.m. The rest of the day’s scheduled activities, including a concert in the evening, reportedly went on as planned.

This report is based on preliminary statements from law enforcement officials and may not contain the full scope of findings.
