FEATURE — There’s a blue moon rising — and it’s the biggest full moon of the year, a phenomenon that won’t occur for another 14 years, according to NASA.

On Wednesday, Aug. 30, at 7:35 p.m. MDT, a super blue moon at 7 degrees Pisces will illuminate the Southern Utah sky. As the second full moon to rise in August, this full moon is a blue moon — and a lucky one at that.

A blue moon occurs once every 2-3 years and denotes the occurrence of a second full moon in one calendar month. Beyond their rare nature, they are considered lucky and indicate a fortuitous time for manifestations.

Blue moons empower us to break a cycle and do something different, which opens the way for synchronicities to take place. In the sign of Pisces, a mutable water sign, this lunar energy has an element of mystery but also heightens the likelihood of illusions. What once was blurry can almost instantaneously become clear.

This full moon activates the Virgo-Pisces axis of service. Virgo rules the practical day-to-day minutia that largely influences health and external contributions, while Pisces connects us to the greater beyond and is associated with the crown chakra.

Beginning to build Monday, this cosmic force encourages us to strike a balance between how we spiritually connect, while also maintaining order. Because Pisces’ energy can sometimes indicate an increased desire to escape, it’s essential now to acknowledge and nourish spiritual needs. By tapping into this energy, we are likely to become conduits, grounding the amorphous depths of imagination through creative expression.

This full moon also is sitting close in the sky to Saturn in Pisces, which may bring about an emotional reckoning or having to face some sugar-free truth.

So what does this all mean for you? Find out below.

Aries

With this blue moon happening in your 12th house of spirituality, subconscious and endings, you’re coming to the end of a cycle, especially where it comes to how you feel about certain aspects of your life, dear Aries. Projects may be winding to a close, and it would be in your best interest to tie up any loose ends, as the next full moon will be in your sign, indicating a time when the spotlight is on you. You may feel a need to withdraw for a few days, especially right around or on Wednesday. What you finish behind the scenes now is likely to be notable.

Taurus
April 20-May 20

Friendships and long-term goals are illuminated now, as this blue moon is happening in your 11th house of group associations and the future, dear Taurus. It’s also in these arenas where you may strike a bit of luck, being in the right place to connect with the right person. And you may meet someone now who changes the course of your life, but it will require you to do a bit of work to solidify the connection. Clarify your dreams and aim high.

Gemini
May 21–June 20

The spotlight is on you, dear Gemini, as this full moon is illuminating your 10th house of career and public reputation. Some could see a stroke of luck on the career front, whether that’s locking down a new role or receiving accolades for past work. For others, this is about letting your imagination roam as it relates to your long-term goals. If you feel that you have painted yourself into a corner, it may be high time to break free.

Cancer
June 21–July 22

A blue moon in the ninth house cracks open a yearning for adventure, dear Cancer. The day-to-day monotony is likely to feel unnervingly stale. You want to explore new places, tastes and ideas. A break in routine can do wonders to curb restlessness and even unearth some exciting discoveries, while adherence to old rhythms will likely have you feeling on edge.

Leo
July 23–August 22

Following a new moon in your sign, which pushed you to tap into and realign with your core identity, this blue moon activates your eighth house of shared resources, intimacy and self-empowerment, dear Leo. This indicates a powerful time of dramatic self-transformation, as the eighth house also rules the death and rebirth cycle. If you’ve been hanging onto dead weight, luck comes when you let go. Passive streams of income can see a boost now.

Virgo
Aug. 23–Sept. 22

This blue moon shines on your opposite sign, which means that for you, dear Virgo, this week is all about relationships. If you’ve fallen into a routine with a partner or feel that you keep attracting the same type of relationship, it’s time to break the pattern. For those in relationships, going to a new place or trying a new activity together could be just what you need to stir up the romance. Luck comes through intention and the work you put into creating healthier bonds with the people you love.

Libra
Sept. 23–Oct. 22

This blue moon is activating your sixth house of work, health and day-to-day routine, dear Libra, which has been a primary focus for you since Saturn entered Pisces earlier this year. Luck for you comes from this area, such as finding the right practitioner or meeting someone through work who becomes a source of inspiration. This also shines a light on productivity, and you may now cut something from your routine that’s draining your time.

Scorpio
Oct. 23–Nov. 21

With this week’s blue moon lighting up your fifth house of pleasure, areas related to romance, self-expression, play and children are amplified now, dear Scorpio. It’s not only time to engage in creative projects and activities that provoke passion but also to showcase them to the world, as luck is on your side now. If you’re not ready to go public, consider at least sharing with a few close people. This week offers fortuitous time to meet a potential romantic partner, so make sure to accept invitations.

Sagittarius
Nov. 22–Dec. 21

You may find yourself wanting to stay in and be at home this week, dear Sagittarius, as this blue moon is happening in your fourth house of home, family and inner security. Forever the adventurer, even you need downtime sometimes. And it’s feeling a sense of peace that provides restoration and recalibration. You’re inclined now toward nostalgia and connecting with your ancestral roots. You may see some luck as it relates to your home, whether you’re looking to relocate or complete a repair.

Capricorn
Dec. 22–Jan. 19

Illuminating a rather busy part of the sky for you, dear Capricorn, this blue moon is all about communication, short-distance travel, siblings and learning skills. And it’s in these areas where you may find some luck, such as gaining an opportunity through a causal conversation or you may strike a deal on a new mode of transportation. Just be careful to read the fine print as Mercury is still in retrograde. Writers could see spontaneous bursts of inspiration or dive into a whole new genre.

Aquarius
Jan. 20–Feb. 18

With this blue moon activating a part of your sky that has to do with finances and talents, you may discover a way to increase your income now, dear Aquarius. This cosmic influence also illuminates matters related to self-worth, which means that you are gaining a deeper awareness of how you see yourself and how well you are aligned with your core values. Because this also may have you feeling a desire to make a significant purchase, it would be wise to make sure it is returnable or wait until Venus ends its retrograde on Sept. 4. Luck comes when you root your actions in your core values.

Pisces
Feb. 19 – March 20

With this blue moon happening in your sign, more luck and synchronicities are on offer for you, dear Pisces. It’s important to be clear on what you are focusing on and what you are asking for, as your ability to manifest is at an all-time high. If you’ve been asking for something in the same way, think about how you might expand this idea to allow more pathways to open. It may be that you are more focused on an outcome rather than the process. Drawing from your deep well of faith and imagination is key to unlocking new experiences.
