Matthew Jessop Timpson

Nov. 18, 2965-July 28, 2023

Matthew Jessop Timpson, 57, passed away July 28, 2023, surrounded by loved ones, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Born to Alma Adelbert Timpson and Kathryn Jessop on Nov. 18, 1965, in Hildale, Utah, Matthew was more than an exceptionally talented artist. With a true passion for life and a love for humankind, he ensured all who he encountered knew he valued them.

Raised in a large family, Matthew was never lonely. He grew up in Colorado City, Arizona, where he graduated from the Colorado City Academy and received his associate degree at Mohave Community College. He developed a love for the outdoors at an early age and enjoyed camping, backpacking, swimming and hiking throughout his life. His adventures and experiences always included healthy, delicious food, multiple friends and music. The world was his reference for his art, and he incorporated even the most minute details into his masterpieces. As an artist, he painted with his heart and created inspired works that were fabulous and beautiful.

Matthew’s love for God and the Gospel was evident in his conversation and everyday life. He was consistently an example of charity, going beyond in the service of his fellow man. His biggest joys in life were his seven kids, but he was a mentor and father figure to many, often inviting those needing friendship and encouragement to his adventures and home. All will remember his kindness, humor, and captivating energy.

Matthew is survived by his mother, Kathryn Jessop, his wife, Janette Blackmore, and his seven children: Dianne (Clayne), Madolyn (Kenneth), Davis, Roberta, Maxwell, Rhett, and Sullivan.

He is also survived by his grandchildren: Alysha, Vittoria, Owen, Ginevra, Ailish, Atreus and Valerie, as well as many brothers, sisters and mothers. He will also be remembered by his ex-wife, Joyce Harker.

He is preceded in death by his father, Alma A. Timpson, and his brothers, Warren, Frederick, James, Benjamin and Samuel Timpson.

Funeral Services will be Sunday, Aug. 6, at 1 p.m. at the Centennial Park Chapel in Centennial Park, Arizona.

Friends and family may call Saturday, Aug. 5, from 7-9 p.m., or Sunday, Aug. 6 prior to the service beginning at 10:30 a.m., at the Chapel.

Interment will take place in Centennial Park Cemetery immediately following the service.

Arrangements are under the direction of Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 S Bluff St., St. George, 435-673-2454. Family and friends are invited to sign Matthew’s online guest book.
