ST. GEORGE — Traffic was snarled at the corner of River Road and Riverside Drive for around 30 minutes Friday morning after a collision between a compact sports utility vehicle and a pickup.

Some lanes were restricted and the entry to Riverside was closed after the 10:30 a.m. crash.

One person suffered a cut but refused transport, opting to have her sister transport her to nearby St. George Regional Hospital.

“The incident is still under investigation,” said St. George Police officer Brielle Carter, though she was not able to provide additional details on the cause of the crash.

The two vehicles were left mangled in the middle of the intersection until tow trucks arrived to move them.

Front and back airbags deployed in a gray Nissan Kicks compact SUV, and the front end and passenger side were crushed and dented. The female driver could be seen bleeding from her hand but said her sister would take her to the hospital.

The other vehicle, driven by a male, was a gray Ford Maverick pickup, and its front area was crushed to the engine.

The scene was cleared by 11:10 a.m.
