MOHAVE COUNTY, Ariz. — The driver of a Chevy Suburban lost control and rolled Saturday morning, which resulted in one adult woman being ejected and airlifted to a hospital.

Colorado City-Hildale Fire Department Chief Kevin Barlow said the emergency call was received from St. George Dispatch Control at 7:34 a.m.

“Two cowboys came across it and called their dispatch out at Bar Ten Ranch and they called it into St. George,” Barlow said. “It came in a roundabout way to us.”

Barlow said the incident occurred on Mohave County Route 5, also known as Mount Trumbull Road, near Clayhole Wash at milepost 94.

Clayhole Wash is southwest of Colorado City just below the border line in Arizona. Barlow said the incident happened approximately 15 miles down a dirt road.

Two rescue units, a brush fire truck and two ambulances responded to the call for medical services.

Barlow said when they arrived, they first found the cowboys who called for help at the scene and discovered a single occupant who was ejected during the vehicle rollover.

He reported the ejected woman sustained “fairly serious injuries.” She was stabilized by first responders, then transported by helicopter to St. George Regional Hospital.

Barlow said it was uncertain how long the woman had been lying at the scene or when the incident occurred.

“Always let someone know where you are going,” Barlow said on traveling, especially when alone or in a wilderness area.

Mohave County Sheriff’s Office and the Colorado City-Hildale Police Department assisted. The investigation is being handled by the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.

This report is based on statements from first responders and officials and may not contain the full scope of findings.
