CONTRIBUTED CONTENT — Red Cliffs Mall is gearing up for a grand-opening celebration of The Terrace, an outdoor area featuring exciting new restaurants and amenities. The event, which also serves as the introduction of Al’s Sporting Goods to local customers, will highlight Red Cliffs as Southern Utah’s place to be for good food, great shopping and fun with family and friends.

“We really wanted to create a place where people can come and hang out, make it user-friendly,” general manager Cory Ashby said. “There’s something always going on at Red Cliffs.”

Red Cliffs will be giving away tens of thousands of dollars in prizes during the grand opening on Friday, May 12. The celebration kicks off with a ribbon-cutting at 10 a.m. and gift bags for the first 500 attendees featuring swag from Al’s Sporting Goods and gift cards to many of the mall’s retail stores. 15 randomly selected gift bags will contain anywhere from $200 to $1,000 in additional gift cards and prizes.

“We’re going to be giving away a lot of money to shop that day,” Ashby said.

Two of the mall’s new restaurants, WannaCinn and Jay Bird’s Chicken, will be offering free samples of their signature cinnamon rolls and Southern-style waffles. Shoppers who spend $50 or more at any Red Cliffs retail store can bring their receipts to the mall office and receive a $10 gift card to another retailer.

A DJ will keep the party going all day long, and don’t miss the country line dancing class at the outdoor stage. The event will wrap up with a high-energy concert from Cedar City-based country artist Chris Petersen.

Red Cliffs has been Southern Utah’s premier retail destination since opening in 1990. As the only major indoor shopping center between Las Vegas and the Wasatch Front, it features more than 60 stores and nearly 450,000 square feet of retail space.

With grass areas, waterfalls and seating built into the landscape, The Terrace is the centerpiece of an ongoing rejuvenation project that aligns the mall’s offerings with what today’s customers want and need. That includes more shopping and dining options, like the Tillys and Kaiseki Sushi locations that opened earlier this year.

This spring, Red Cliffs Mall is showcasing talented local musicians with a series of concerts at The Terrace. On Saturday, May 13, the Siva Pasefika cultural group will bring the spirit of Polynesia to Southern Utah with a showcase of music and dance deeply rooted in tradition. On Saturday, May 27, rising country star Cole Hartley will get audiences on their feet with a mix of old favorites, current hits and original songs.

Each concert lasts from 7-9 p.m. and is free to attend. Attendees are encouraged to bring a chair or a blanket and make themselves comfortable on the grassy area near the stage. Along with live music, concertgoers can enjoy delicious eats from local food trucks and browse a variety of vendor booths. The final concert, held in conjunction with a summer kickoff event, will feature line dancing and fun activities for the whole family.
