CONTRIBUTED CONTENT — In early 1994, the nascent World Wide Web was teeming with untapped potential for such innovators as the visionary founders of InfoWest. Today, the first company to bring internet access and digital phone service to St. George remains an industry leader and the trusted choice for countless Utahns.

InfoWest was recently named Best of State in the Telecommunications category, which covers TV, internet and phone service providers throughout Utah. It’s the first time the company has received this prestigious honor that co-founder and CEO Kelly Nyberg said directly reflects their commitment to providing subscribers with the ultimate internet experience.

“We care about our customers,” he added. “When you treat each customer like they’re the most important customer, things like awards and accolades come naturally.”

The Best of State awards were created to recognize outstanding individuals, organizations and businesses in Utah. Candidates are evaluated by a panel of judges based on their ability to excel in their endeavors, use innovative approaches or methods and contribute to a better quality of life.

Many of Southern Utah’s most well-known businesses rely on “The Internet People” at InfoWest to keep them connected and moving forward. InfoWest recently updated the Burns Arena at Utah Tech University with state-of-the-art Wi-Fi equipment, and they’ve provided internet access for some of the community’s biggest events.

“InfoWest is a great solution to your internet needs,” Nyberg said. “We’re big enough that we can get you the speeds and service you need, but small enough that we care about providing local and friendly support.”

InfoWest serves residential and business customers throughout Southern Utah with fiber speeds of up to 10 gigabits per second. The company is constantly expanding its fiber footprint while also making FiberWave technology, which delivers gigabit speeds without the need for trenching fiber, more accessible.

Along with fast, reliable internet connectivity, InfoWest provides phone, security, IT and web hosting services to tens of thousands of Utahns. Their service area includes more than 70 cities and towns across the southern and central regions of the state, as well as parts of Arizona and Nevada.

It’s very fulfilling to see all of the thousands of homes and businesses who rely on InfoWest for their internet service,” Nyberg said. “Knowing as I order at a restaurant that uses InfoWest, for example, that we’re making a huge impact in their success.”

InfoWest is focused on doing the right thing, and giving back to the communities they serve has been a key value from the beginning. That includes taking care of their more than 100 employees, whom Nyberg said are the heart and soul of the company and the reason they’re recognized as the Best in State.

“Our employees are the absolute best,” he added. “It’s really their award.”

InfoWest is Southern Utah’s original internet service provider. The company has shifted, updated and evolved along with changes in technology, and Nyberg said they’ll continue to do so as they approach their 30th year in business

“When we first started, it was dial-up,” he added. “Now, iPhones, gigabit internet speeds, Wi-Fi and things we only dreamed would be possible are commonplace. InfoWest has a tradition of being on the breaking edge of internet technology, and we plan to keep the tradition going.”
