Region 10 soccer standings tighten up as parity creates even playing field — anyone can win

ST. GEORGE — Parity finally caught up with the soccer team at Crimson Cliffs High School.

Cedar defeated Crimson 1-nil Thursday night, handing the defending 4A state champions their first loss in Region 10 play.

Cedar’s Corbin DeMille netted the lone goal of the contest, converting an assist from Dallin Hillstead for a second-half marker.

The home side Mustangs threw everything it had at Cedar’s goal, but freshman keeper Sam Murray and the Reds defense was stout in the shutout effort.

Following are recaps of the week’s Region 10 action on the pitch, starting with Thursday night’s other two contests.

Dixie 5, Pine View 1

The Flyers tallied thrice in the first half and twice more in the second in a dominant performance on the road.

Hayes Thompson scored unassisted to start the Flyers barrage early in the first half.

Iker Meza netted Andy Lagomarsino’s cross for the second Dixie score and Grant Carter punched in a rebound for Dixie’s 3-nil halftime lead.

Pine View looked to get back in the contest, scoring early in the second session. Andy Prudencio set up Cristian Cruz’s goal and the Panthers got on the board, 3-1.

But Dixie put the game away with two more goals, from Meza and Carter. Lagomarsino collected assists on both tallies and finished with a hat trick of helpers in the game.

Desert Hills 2, Snow Canyon 1

The Thunder rallied for two second-half scores to steal the win on the road.

Snow Canyon got off to a strong start when Josh Jensen assisted Adam Parkhurst’s first-half marker. The Warriors went to intermission ahead 1-nil.

But the Thunder’s Zac Davis and Karson Clark rumbled for second-half scores for the win. Gage Lewis assisted both scores for Desert Hills.

Games Tuesday April 4

Crimson Cliffs 6, Hurricane 0

Camden Squires and Noah Neild each scored twice in the Mustangs stampede.

Ryan Smith and Easton Lott also scored for Crimson Cliffs. The Mustangs scored three times in each half.

Passing out assists in the win were Smith, Hinckley Heaton, Mason Manwaring and Hudson Morby.

Crimson goalkeeper Treyden Stringham posted his third shutout of the year.

Desert Hills 3, Cedar 1

Cedar scored its only goal on a penalty kick in the first half, but Desert Hills responded with three markers to secure the win at home.

Gage Lewis scored twice and Dillon Bingham recorded a goal and as assist for the Thunder. Jaxon Resendez and Zach Davis had assists in the win.

Snow Canyon 2, Pine View 1

The Warriors held on for a solid win over the Panthers after Will Warner and Brandon Gough scored for Snow Canyon.

Pine View’s Hayden Blaisdell answered for Pine View but the Panthers could not find the equalizer.
