Barbara Hone MacLeod

Aug. 20, 1935 – Feb. 20, 2023

On Feb. 20, 2023, our mother passed away peacefully in her sleep. She was blessed to be happily married to three men in her life, Ned Day, her soulmate on Nov. 27, 1952, who died on Dec. 26, 1981. She then married Lorin Condie, on June 6, 1987, who died on Nov. 11, 1995. She then married Fred MacLeod on Nov. 2, 1996, who died on Nov. 21, 2014. She loved them all.

She married Ned Day in the temple on March 14, 1970, and had their children sealed to them as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in several positions in the church.

Barbara was born on Aug. 20, 1935, in Provo, to Merrill and Merle Hone. She had five brothers and sisters, and their spouses: Ronald and Bonnie Hone (both deceased), Stephen and JoDell  Hone, Gary and Diana Hone, Don and Sandy Hone, and Rebecca Clements. She was blessed with three children: Randall, Debbie, and Cindy. They had 16 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren. Mom loved to crochet and knit baby blankets and afghans for her children and grandchildren. She was also tough, having survived breast cancer.

Barbara worked in the banking industry for 55 years. She started as a teller in Council, Idaho, and retired as a branch manager in St George, in 2005. Our mother loved to do several things in her life including playing the piano and organ in church and camping with Ned. Mother didn’t measure life in years but in the number of friends, husbands, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren she was blessed to know and love.

A viewing will be held at Spilsbury Mortuary, at 110 South Bluff Street, in St George, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on March 4, 2023. The funeral services will be held after the viewing at 11:00 a.m. at the same location. Mother will be interned in the Parowan Cemetery at the mouth of the canyon on Highway 143.
