ST. GEORGE — The Canyon View High School Talons drill team won its second straight 3A state championship on Friday.
Competing at Utah Valley University in Orem, the 36-member Talons swept first place in all three competitive categories: military, dance and show. Runner-up Juab High placed second in all three categories.
“We are so proud of our girls,” Canyon View head coach Nicole Mikkelson told St. George News afterward. “They set this goal at the beginning of the year and have worked so hard each day to accomplish it. It was tough competition, but they rose to the challenge and gave three amazing performances.”
The win marks Canyon View’s third-ever drill state championship, with the others coming in 2011 and 2022.
