In Cedar City’s 5th District Court on Dec. 6, Alora Burgoz, 24, pleaded guilty to a single count of aggravated assault with domestic violence, a third-degree felony.

The plea will be held in abeyance for 36 months, Judge Ann Marie McIff Allen said. If Burgoz successfully abides by all of the terms of the agreement for the next three years, the charge will be dismissed and not go on her record.

As previously reported in St. George News / Cedar City News, Burgoz was accused of following and eventually crashing into her ex-boyfriend’s pickup truck with her sports utility vehicle in Cedar City on Nov. 4.

As part of the plea agreement, three other charges against Burgoz were dismissed, namely a second count of aggravated assault and two misdemeanor counts, involving reckless driving and criminal mischief.

“This is a favorable resolution for you, as I’m sure you realize,” Allen told Burgoz during the hearing.

In addition to the standard terms typically associated with such agreements, the court ordered Burgoz to complete 100 hours of community service and pay $803 in fines and fees.

Burgoz also was ordered to comply with the cohabitant abuse protective order associated with her case.

“You’ll need to carefully comply with that,” the judge said. “If that goes away for some reason, because of a dismissal or something else, then you are ordered to have no negative contact with the victims in this case at all.”
