Alora Burgoz, 24, was booked into Iron County Jail following the incident, which reportedly occurred at approximately 10 p.m. Friday night near 3300 West and 1600 North in Cedar City.

According to the probable cause statement filed in support of Burgoz’s arrest, police officers responded to the scene after receiving a call from a man reporting that his ex-girlfriend had tried to run him off the road.

“I responded to the area and located the wrecked vehicle and made contact with a female subject, who identified herself as Alora Burgoz,” the arresting officer wrote in the affidavit. “She admitted to driving the vehicle and to following her boyfriend. She stated that she went to visit him and caught him cheating. He attempted to drive off and she followed him trying to get him to stop.”

According to Cedar City Police, Burgoz was driving a 2018 Hyundai Tucson SUV and the ex-boyfriend, who reportedly had a female passenger, was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck.

The probable cause affidavit alleges that Burgoz followed the truck with her car, honking at its driver and trying to get him to stop.

At some point, she allegedly struck the driver’s side rear tire of the truck with the front passenger side of her car, in an apparent attempt to execute a “PIT maneuver.”

“I asked Alora about the initial collision and she admitted it happened but claimed it was an accident, again stating that she just wanted him to stop,” the officer wrote. “I checked Alora’s passenger side front and observed what appeared to be tire marks and rubber residue.”

As of Tuesday morning, Burgoz remains held without bail in Iron County Jail, where she is being held on suspicion of two counts of aggravated assault, a third-degree felony; one count of reckless driving, a class B misdemeanor; and one count of criminal mischief, also a class B misdemeanor.

Burgoz is expected to make her initial appearance in 5th District Court sometime this week.

This report is based on statements from court documents and law enforcement officials and may not contain the full scope of findings. Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.
