Virginia Lynne Gifford

Oct. 27, 1940-April 18, 2022

Virginia Lynne Mofield was born in Morenci, Arizona, on Oct. 27, 1940. She was the third child and only daughter of Walter and Iris Mofield. Virginia married Ralph Gifford in 1957, and they raised their family in Las Vegas, Nevada. Later, in the mid-1980s, the Giffords moved to Springdale, Utah.

Virginia loved life. She enjoyed travel, attending musicals and plays with friends, camping, boondocking, the Oregon Coast, the Redwoods, trips to Pennsylvania to visit family and enjoying the fall colors. The North Rim of the Grand Canyon was her favorite place. Picnics on Kolob Mountain and hiking and exploring the washes of Zion with her dear husband were some of her favorite pastimes.

Virginia had a very strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She loved reading the scriptures, always learning something new. She loved the Chosen series. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served others in many church callings over the years, but her favorite was the nursery, where she served for two decades. Her knowledge of the Plan of Happiness was a comfort to her.

A natural caregiver to her family.,Virginia loved most of all to take care of Ralph, her dear husband of 64 years. She was sealed to her sweetheart in St. George Temple in 1985. Virginia was fun and funny. She enjoyed making people laugh and have fun. She was the most patient and kind soul.

The best wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and loyal friend, Virginia will always be loved and never forgotten, always and forever.

Virginia is survived by her loving husband Ralph Gifford of Springdale, daughter Connie Thistle (Kevin Thistle) of Las Vegas, daughter Deann Cardenes (Scott Cardenes) of Springville, seven beautiful grandchildren and nine wonderful great-grandchildren, of whom she was so proud and loved very much.

She was preceded in death by her dear parents, Walter H. (Jack) Mofield, and Iris (Armstrong) Mofield, her brothers Walter H. Mofield Jr. and Robert Dean Mofield and her beloved son Ralph Lawrence Gifford.

Services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Springdale on Friday, April 22. A viewing will be held at 9:30 am, the funeral service at 11 a.m. and burial following at the Jolley-Gifford Cemetery.
