CONTRIBUTED CONTENT — Nominations are being sought for the Cedar City Area Chamber of Commerce’s 71st annual Best of Cedar City Awards.
“For over 70 years, the chamber of commerce has recognized businesses, organizations and individuals who strive to elevate the quality of life of those who reside in our community,” said Chris McCormick, president and CEO of the Cedar City Chamber. “Our annual Best of Cedar City Awards provides citizens with a means to express their gratitude to those who go above and beyond to make a difference.”
McCormick said the people of Cedar City are what make it such an ideal place to call home.
“So many individuals give their time, talents and means to enhance our community,” he said. “We invite all to come celebrate with us in recognizing those who truly make Iron County such a phenomenal place to live.”
Nominations, which can be submitted online, are due Nov. 19 by the end of the business day. Taylor Larson, the chamber’s events coordinator, said being a member of the chamber is not a requirement to make a nomination or be nominated.
Nominations may be made in any or all of 15 different award categories, including business of the year, employer of the year, organization of the year, man of the year, woman of the year and restaurant of the year.
Other categories include customer service, educator, medical professional, young citizen, volunteer and innovative business of the year. The “Legacy Lifetime Achievement Award” will also be presented, along with the “Fred C. Adams Excellence in the Arts Award.”
Once all of the nominations have been received, the names of the nominees, along with short summaries of their backgrounds and accomplishments, will be sent out to the chamber’s nearly 400 members for their votes.
The winners will be announced next spring during the chamber’s 71st annual awards gala.
Earlier this year, the 2021 awards gala was held inside the Leavitt Group Hangar near the Cedar City Regional Airport. The gala was sold out, with limited attendance due to COVID-19 precautions. See the gallery below for a selection of photos from that event.
