ST. GEORGE —  The City of St. George will usher in the arrival of public safety and recreational resources in July with three dedications in a nine-day span.

The events begin with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly opened Temple Springs Trail on Wednesday at 9 a.m., followed by the same for Fish Rock Park on July 20 at 9 a.m. Then on July 22 at 11:30 a.m., the city will dedicate Fire Station 9, according to a news release from the city

Everyone is invited to attend these ceremonies.

“These projects serve our growing community in so many ways,” Mayor Michele Randall said in a news release. “We are so thrilled with how they turned out. We welcome the whole community to come out and celebrate.”

Following is a brief description of the new additions:

Temple Springs Trail

Located on Red Hills Parkway, across the street from the St. George Energy Department Administration building, this trail serves as a connector from Red Hills Parkway to St. George Boulevard and provides scenic overlooks of Downtown St. George. Future improvements include interpretive signage, rest areas and a pavilion.

The Temple Springs Nature Park is named after the springs that were once used to irrigate the LDS Church Temple grounds. Multiple springs still exist at the park and streams can be found running under the bridges or seeping through large rock faces along the trail.

Fish Rock Park

Located at 1423 W. Red Racer Drive, Fish Rock Park is the first public park in The Ledges area. The park has four pickleball courts with lighting, a small playground with an attached play garden, pavilion, restroom and a large grass area that allows for unprogrammed sports play. When standing on the pickleball courts you can see the “fish” of the mountain to the east — the color of the shade umbrellas is a nod to it.

Fire Station 9

Located at 2225 E. Commerce Drive, the station serves the south end of the city. Fire Station 9 is the fifth station staffed full time in the city, joining Stations 1, 6, 7 and 8 and the eighth station overall.
