Police: 1 man shot to death in Kanarraville; another man taken in for questioning

KANARRAVILLE — Authorities are investigating the shooting death of a man in Iron County on Wednesday evening.

The incident reportedly occurred shortly before 8 p.m. at an address on Golden Sunset Drive, located at 1200 South and just west of Old Highway 91 in Kanarraville.

Shortly after 10:30 p.m., Iron County Sheriff’s Lt. David Mitchell issued a news release briefly outlining the incident.

“At approximately 19:53 hours on July 17, 2024, Iron County Sheriff’s deputies responded to an incident in Kanarraville, which involved two adult males,” the release states. “Tragically, one male has been shot and was confirmed deceased. The other involved male has been taken into custody for questioning.”

As of 10:45 p.m., there had not yet been any related arrests shown in the Iron County Jail bookings.

“It is important for the public to know that this is an isolated incident and that there is no threat to public safety at this time,” Mitchell said in the release.

Further details are anticipated to be released by midday Thursday, the sheriff’s office said. 

“The Iron County Sheriff’s Office is committed to providing the community with accurate and timely information as it becomes available,” the statement added.
