Tim Riley King

Feb. 28, 2024

On Feb. 28, 2024, our father, Tim Riley King passed away in his home due to an acute illness. He was 79 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents Merrill and Marguerite King and two brothers, Malcolm and Randall King. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Barbara King, whom he loved dearly; his eight children David (Rebecca) King, Shawn King, Melanie King, Julie King, Karen Rives, Gary (Esther) King, Bonnie (Joshua) Fernelius and Steven King; and his three remaining siblings Colleen McGrath, Tonya (Delane) Crofts and Kevin King. He had 29 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Dad loved his two small dogs Coco and Curly, whom he doted on unceasingly. They brought him joy in life and comforted him in death. Dad’s service will be a private ceremony with family.

Everyone who came to visit Dad was invited in and given a tour of his home, whether you wanted one or not. You would find yourself entertained by his big stories and invited to come again. He found great pleasure in working hard and taught his children to give their all in all they did. People can see you in the work you do, he taught. He was a quick learner, creative, and self-taught in many things. In 1989, after working many years for his parents, he moved to St. George, Utah, and started a successful business, King’s Handyman Service.

Dad was enthusiastic about all he did. When he put his mind to something, he did not quit. Some would call him a perfectionist. Mom said he was OCD. But we learned from his example to keep trying until you find the solution that brings you joy. He often asked us what we would say about him (after his passing). Work hard, give your all and if you eat hot sauce, you will grow hair on your chest.

Dad, this is not goodbye, it is “see you later.” May you find peace until we can meet again. And as you would say at the end of a conversation … “three words” (AKA, I love you).

Arrangements are under the direction of McArthur Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 160 West 700 South, St. George, 435-652-2844. Family and friends are invited to click here to sign Tim’s online guest book.
