UPDATED: UHP identifies pedestrian killed in fatal incident on SR-7 in Washington County

ST. GEORGE — On Monday, the Utah Highway Patrol released the name of the pedestrian who was struck and killed in a fatal incident on state Route 7 on Friday night that closed down the highway in both directions near milepost 13.

The pedestrian who was struck and killed on SR-7 has been identified as 52-year-old Keith Bunker, of Las Vegas, Nevada.

The incident was reported around 7 p.m. with little information beyond a crash being reported by UDOT over X (formerly Twitter).

Drivers approaching from either direction will not be permitted to proceed through the crash site and will be re-directed for the time being.

The Utah Highway Patrol is currently working the scene, which is near Sand Hollow Resort.

The UHP responded to an inquiry about the incident by St. George News via a text and shared that the incident involved a fatal collision between two vehicles and a pedestrian. The pedestrian involved did not survive the incident.

UDOT is reporting on its website that the estimated clearance time is 11 p.m.

On Saturday, the Utah Department of Public Safety posted the following on its website.

“On Feb. 9, 2024 at approximately 7 p.m. a pickup truck pulling a trailer was traveling south-west on SR-7 near mile 13, in Washington County,” the department said in a media release. “A pedestrian entered the roadway in front of the pickup truck. The pedestrian was struck by the pickup truck, then by a car that was in the north-east lane of travel. The male sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene.”
