“The objective of the fair is to offer attendees helpful information about health-related products and services that exist in our community in a festive, fun environment,” said Jane Muller, marketing and communications manager for Family Healthcare. “Last year’s event was a success, so we made it a goal to come back bigger and better this time around.”

The health fair will be held, rain or shine, on Saturday, Nov. 4, from noon to 4 p.m. at Family Healthcare’s new clinic on Riverside Drive. Sponsored by “The Internet People” at InfoWest, the event features over 25 wellness-focused booths from community organizations such as Memory Matters, Root for Kids and the Alzheimer’s Association, each offering helpful information and plenty of giveaways. Admission is free, and everyone is welcome.

Kids are sure to enjoy the bounce houses, face painting, giant yard games and goat petting zoo. There will be food trucks, drawings, raffles and opportunities to spin for prizes. Attendees can also experience yoga with goats courtesy of Inner Peas Farm at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Southern Utah University’s mobile wellness van will be on hand to provide complimentary health screenings and education on subjects like nutrition and exercise. Utah Navigators, a free public service, will be offering eligibility and enrollment assistance for the Health Insurance Marketplace, Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Plan.

“Open enrollment for health insurance runs Nov. 1 to Jan. 15,” Muller said. “The navigators can help you figure out where to get insurance, what you qualify for and how to enroll.”

This fall, Family Healthcare has joined forces with Veyo Pies to bring Southern Utahns the deliciousness of freshly made pie and the joy of supporting health care access in the community. Veyo Pies are renowned for their freshness and fabulous ingredients, and $3.50 from every pie sold will be donated to Family Healthcare with the purpose of providing medical services to the community’s most vulnerable patients.

Veyo Pies are available in five scrumptious flavors – apple, apple caramel, mountain berry, strawberry rhubarb and pumpkin – with prices ranging from $14.50 to $18.50. Supporters will save the drive to Veyo since pies purchased through the fundraiser will be available for pickup at Family Healthcare’s Riverside Drive location between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4.

All pie orders must be placed before 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 25. Click here to place an order.

“The profits will support primary care access for patients struggling with economic insecurity,” Muller said. “This helps ensure that everyone in our community has access to the affordable health care that they need and deserve.”

As a community health center, Family Healthcare serves many uninsured, underinsured and low-income Southern Utah residents. The sliding scale payment structure ensures that every patient receives the care they need at a cost they can afford. It’s a hand up, not a handout, offering patients the pride and dignity that comes with knowing they’re contributing to their own health and well-being.

Family Healthcare is a registered nonprofit organization providing accessible, high-quality medical, behavioral and dental care to the residents of southwest Utah since 2002. Call 435-986-2565 or visit familyhc.org for more information.
