State Bank celebrates retirement of executive vice president of commercial loans

ST. GEORGE — State Bank of Southern Utah announced the retirement of Ken Schone, executive vice president of commercial loans, at the end of the year. Schone has been part of the SBSU commercial loan team since 1997.

“Ken has been a valuable member of the team at State Bank ever since he started,” Kim Christensen, SBSU executive vice president, said. “He embodies the values of State Bank and this community. He has seen and been a part of the growth in this area for the last 33 years he’s been here.”

Schone is a graduate of the University of Utah School of Business. Schone moved to St. George in 1982 to continue his banking career. He worked at several regional and statewide banks before joining SBSU 18 years ago.

Schone has been active in the American Institute of Banking program, where he taught classes for several years. After moving to St. George, he met and married the former Charisse Beatty, and together they have three grown sons. Schone has been a member of the St. George Exchange Club and served a term as president.

“I’ve made great friends and feel fortunate to have been involved with many business leaders, builders and developers during my career,” Schone said. “I’m looking forward to retirement and being able to devote more time to improving my golf game and spending time with my family.”
