Gateway Academy Performs Lion King Jr at Heritage Theater

On Feb. 28th, Gateway Preparatory Academy performed Lion King Jr. at the Heritage Theater. All 56 students that performed on stage were from various classes from the arts. Drama, dance and choir students all joined together and worked hard for five months to put on the show, directed by the drama teacher Mr. Fergason, choreographed by the dance teacher Mrs. Clements-Fergason and musically directed by the choir teacher Mrs. Shelly.

From the giant 12-ft tall puppet giraffes to the leaping gazelle it took everyone to put this show together. “We are so thankful and proud of every single one of them and everyone that came out to help,” Mr. Fergason said. Most of the props and set were built by students, part of the stagecraft class, and parents who volunteered their time to help. Gateway Academy offers all of these classes for 6th-8th grade students and are looking forward to the future of many more productions.
