Dixie Garden Club scholarship applications due

ST. GEORGE – The deadline is fast approaching to apply for a scholarship provided by the Dixie Garden Club. This year they will be awarding two scholarships to entering freshmen or current Dixie State University students enrolled in a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree program. The monetary award of each scholarship is $600.

The criteria to apply is the following:

  • Entering Freshmen must have a minimum 3.0 high school grade point average  or above
  • Current DSU students must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or above
  • Financial need is not a criterion but will be taken into consideration on a case-by-case basis

Deadline to submit the completed application is Saturday, March 28. Late applications will not be considered.

Or applicants can go the website and click on the Current Students tab at the top of the page, under Financial Aid click on Scholarships and then Community and Local Scholarships for DSU students and scroll down to Dixie Garden Club and download the application form.

Official high school or college transcripts, a short essay and a small photograph must be included with the application and submitted to club president Rhonda Bowcut, 2891 S. Rim Crest Dr., St. George, UT 84790.

“Cherish the past, cultivate the future,” is the theme for the 2014-15 season of the Dixie Garden Club. Meetings are held at 1 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month from September through June.

The Dixie Garden Club was established over twenty years ago with the purpose of assisting and cooperating with city and county sponsored beautification projects, to invite speakers on horticulture related topics, to share knowledge and exchange seeds and plantings with other members and to encourage water conservation.
